A death penalty repeal bill cleared the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 10th on a 6-5 vote, and now faces a vote in the full Senate. The bill has already cleared the State House of Representatives, so if no changes are made in the Senate, the legislation will go to Governor Bill Richardson to be signed into law.
Governor Richardson has said he would consider signing the death penalty abolition bill.
