Abolish the Death Penalty Blog

Abolish the Death Penalty is a blog dedicated to...well, you know. The purpose of Abolish is to tell the personal stories of crime victims and their loved ones, people on death row and their loved ones and those activists who are working toward abolition. You may, from time to time, see news articles or press releases here, but that is not the primary mission of Abolish the Death Penalty. Our mission is to put a human face on the debate over capital punishment.

You can also follow death penalty news by reading our News page and by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Hugo Adam Bedau - In Memoriam August 30, 2012

In Memoriam: Hugo Adam Bedau

1926-2012

Hugo Adam Bedau, a founding member of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty and a former Chair of the Board of Directors, died on August 13, 2012. A noted scholar and the author of numerous books on capital punishment, we are thankful for his leadership and vision. We mourn his loss, we miss his warmth and humor, and we pledge to continue the struggle to which he devoted so much of his life. Our sympathies go out to his wife, Constance Putnam, their family, and to all that he touched. On August 17, the New York Times published this obituary, and the Boston Globe had this.
