On October 15th, the death penalty movement lost a dear friend and champion, Dan Schoen. Dan, the executive director of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, was a long-time champion for death penalty repeal in Colorado. He worked closely with Coloradans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty on last year’s repeal effort, spear-heading the coalition’s efforts to navigate a highly contested statewide redistricting process in advance of the 2012 elections. Dan could always be counted on for thoughtful advice or just a good laugh. He will be sorely missed.
