New Mexico Representative Gail Chasey, also receiving the Abolitionist of the Year Award, for her tireless work in that state’s legislature, which made abolition a reality in New Mexico.
The New Mexico Coalition to Repeal the Death Penalty, with the Lighting the Torch of Conscience Award and for their years of labor to bring repeal to New Mexico.
The Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy with our Outstanding Legal Service Award, for giving a voice to Kentuckians who could not afford life-saving counsel without their help.
Carl Wedekind, with a Special Recognition for his long career as Director of Kentucky’s Abolition NOW campaign and Board Member of the Kentucky Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
Singer-Songwriter Steve Earle will receive the Shining Star of Abolition award.
