Make a Video

As we continue to shout from the rooftops that Cameron Todd Willingham was innocent and executed, we need to hear your voice too so we can amplify our message. Here are the steps you can take to make your own video:

1. To make a video, you'll need to have a device that can capture digital movies—this could be a camcorder, digital camera, or even your cell phone.

2. Record a video of yourself saying this: "My name is [Your Name Here], and I'm shouting from the rooftops that Cameron Todd Willingham was innocent. He was wrongfully executed, and his case shows that it's time to end the use of the death penalty."

3. Once you’re done recording, you’ll need to copy the movie to your computer. This can be done in several ways:
  • If your device came with a USB cord that connects your device to your computer, simply plug your device into an open USB port and drag and drop the movies from your device to your computer’s desktop.
  • If your device uses an SD, xD, or other memory card, you may be able to remove the memory card and plug it directly into your computer. This option is available on many newer computers, so examine the front panel of your desktop or the sides of your laptop to see if this is a possibility. You may also be able to purchase an inexpensive card reader that connects to your computer with a USB cord.
  • If you’re recording a video from a newer cell phone or smart phone, you may be able to upload videos to YouTube directly. Consult your phone’s user guide to find out if this option is available.
4. If necessary, edit your movie using software such as iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. Save the new movie file to your desktop. YouTube accepts nearly all video file formats, including:
  • Windows Media Video (.WMV)
  • .3GP (cell phones)
  • .AVI (windows)
  • .MOV (mac)
  • .MP4 (ipod/psp)
  • .MPEG
  • .FLV (adobe flash)
  • .MKV (h.264)
5. Create an account at YouTube.com, if you don’t already have one. Simply go to www.youtube.com and click the “Create Account” link in the upper right hand corner. Fill out the form the pops up with a username and password of your choice.

6. Once you have an account, and are signed in, go to www.youtube.com/my_videos_upload and click on the “Upload Video” button.

7. Select the video file from your desktop, and click ok. Please be patient while your file uploads, as it may take quite some time, depending on the file size. While you’re waiting, you can edit your movie’s title and description. When you’re done, hit the “Save Changes” button.

8. Once your video is uploaded, it should appear in the “My Videos” section of your account page. Click on the link to the video, copy and paste the page URL, and send it to shouting@ncadp.org. If you encounter any difficulties during the process, please send an email to shouting@ncadp.org and we’ll be happy to assist you.
