DPIC Report Focuses on Death Penalty Costs, Police Chiefs' Views

Margaret Summers - October, 20 2009

The Death Penalty Information Center (DPIC), a nonprofit research and analysis organization which provides the public and the news media with information on death penalty issues, has released its report "Smart on Crime: Reconsidering the Death Penalty in a Time of Economic Crisis."

The report explores how states could save millions by ending capital punishment.  It also includes results of a national poll of police chiefs in which they rank the death penalty at the bottom of their priorities for protecting and preserving public safety.

For details, see the Examiner article entitled "New Report Shows States Can Save Hundreds of Millions by Abolishing the Death Penalty at http://bit.ly/2VNoDY.  To view the full report, go to http://bit.ly/OpIwP.
